Selby District Disability Sport Forum

The main aim of Selby District Disability Sport Forum is to develop sport and active recreation opportunities for disabled people within the Selby District area. With an open membership policy the club attracts both disabled and non disabled members with an interest in developing, supporting or participating in disability sport activities.

The forum's role within the local community is wide and varied. In terms of practical provision of activities the forum has already hosted a number of new age kurling taster sessions and is hoping to make this a regular fixture. In terms of the benefit, participants are given the opportunity to take part in sport whilst also providing a social outlet being able meet with and make new friends in a community setting.

James Chapman, committee member, said: 'This grant will benefit us in many ways. We are using the £1,000 to establish a regular inclusive new age kurling session. Our organisation is all about developing sport and physical activity opportunities for disabled people, whilst increasing participation in sport by disabled and non disabled people, and that is exactly what our kurling sessions will do!'
