Kirkstall Abbey Tennis Club
Kirkstall Abbey aims to provide low cost tennis to the local community. Currently with 118 adult and 58 junior players the club is seeking to grow membership and continue its tradition of providing affordable all year round tennis for local people.
With particular emphasis around engaging young members the club requested a grant to enable them to bring a tennis coach onboard. They hope that both juniors and adults will improve their tennis and as they'll be providing this training for free, it is hope they'll also stimulate interest in joining the club.
Roger Harris, Chairman, said: "As a club we're actively trying to grow our membership which is why the £500 received from Cash 4 Clubs is so vital! The grant will enable us to employ a coach who will provide 30 hours of expert tuition to our members next summer. This grant will therefore have a direct impact on the level of training provided to our tennis players and we hope to see them develop their techniques and confidence as a result of the training. It may also help us attract a few new players!".
The club is also keen to support a junior who wishes to gain a coaching qualification and hopes to encouraging other juniors to become volunteers over the coming months.
