Cleethorpes RUFC Juniors & Minis
Cleethorpes RUFC is an amateur club that has experienced a rapid expansion in junior as well as senior rugby since 2008. The club has had fluctuating fortunes since forming in 1979 but is currently full of a renewed energy to deliver home-grown senior players from the junior levels.
Since the re-birth of the junior section, the club has played an even more pivotal role in the community. With over 80 boys and girls now benefitting from the fundamentals of rugby union: team play, discipline, respect, positive attitude, fun and a healthy lifestyle, they are proud to say they provide opportunities to local youngsters aged 6-14 in a structured, safe environment whilst delivering life skills as well as sporting development.
Having set a firm foundation to build on, over the next 5 years the club hopes to build year on year. In order to deliver some of the aims in the Club development plan, the club applied to Cash 4 Clubs to secure funds for additional coach training. Having expanded from 4 to 13 coaches in the last 3 years, and looking to recruit 5 more in 2011/12, it is essential those new to the sport are trained to the highest standards.
Paul Fairbrass, committee member, said: 'Our grant will assist us in delivering on our commitment of providing competent coaches and referees for all age groups. Recent expansion has seen pressure placed on existing volunteer coaches so our £500 award will help immensely - I can't wait to get our volunteers signed up to new training courses.'
