Wilton Hockey Club

Wilton Hockey Club was founded in 1947 and provides opportunity and support to anybody wanting to play hockey for fun or on a competitive basis in Teesside. The club runs two senior teams that compete in the North East Hockey League and with the recent formation of the Junior Development League, the club aims to train and enter a junior team in 2012.

The Club plays a major role in the community having invested heavily in the provision of Sport England qualified coaches and offers, where possible, specialist equipment, training facilities and coaching to all. The club offers junior coaching through established links with local schools and the Wilton Wildcats scheme is aimed at getting male and female youngsters of all ages and abilities involved in local grassroots sport for minimum cost by providing kit and equipment.

Jon Couhig, committee member, said: 'We believe that sport should be for everybody and we work hard to make our training sessions accessible and affordable, so as not to exclude anybody from being able to play purely for financial reasons. We're delighted to have received a Cash 4 Clubs grant of £250 and will use this to supply the Wilton Wildcats Junior Development Team exclusively with Wilton Hockey kit and equipment.'
