Racqueteers Junior Badminton Club
With a thriving membership of around 50-55 players aged from 5 to 17, Raqueteers is keen to continue to offer a high level of coaching to young people in the Warwick area. Working with local schools to promote the sport has seen an increase in club members - many of the children simply want to play but the club also provides a platform for talented players to progress. The ultimate aim is for players to enjoy their training and if they wish, to go on to play for England.
As the club approaches its 15th birthday, it will be a great boost to all involved to be able to purchase new equipment to replace items that have been with the club since it started. Having a refreshed stock of racquets, including mini request for beginners, means that the club will be able to lend equipment out during sessions, enabling players to join in without having to buy anything first.
Chris Osborne, Committee Member, said: "It is such a big boost to receive this Cash 4 Clubs grant. The £500 we've been awarded will allow us to replace our training kit, most of which is almost 15 years old. When purchasing the new kit we will make sure some of the grant is spent on specialised equipment for our junior players - simply by starting to learn with a mini racquet players can develop much better techniques sooner."
