Hesketh Bank Badminton Club

The badminton club currently has 23 senior and 38 junior members who play up to three times a week in their local village hall. With such a strong group of juniors who are keen to improve their own performance as well as keeping themselves fit, the club was keen to ensure their volunteer coaches were trained to the highest standards.

Using their Cash 4 Clubs grant, Hesketh Bank Badminton Club is sending one of their regular volunteers to a Level 1 Badminton of England training course. Skills and techniques learnt on the course will then be passed on to club members, with a particular emphasis on developing the junior section.

John Edwards, Chairman, said: "This Cash 4 Clubs grant will ensure I can put myself through the Level 1 Badminton Training Course. With almost sixty members, having one of us trained to deliver quality coaching will ensure that our sessions are more structured and that we're in a strong position to recruit more junior members, and train them in the game."
