Special Needs Activity Club (SNAC)

The Special Needs Activity Club (SNAC) is based in Port Talbot, West Glamorgan. They provide a wide range of sports with children with disabilities as well as a safe and happy environment for the children and young people to make new friends and have fun. The club has its own purpose built building and a large outdoor area, catering for families from across South Wales six days a week.

SNAC provides a much needed facility for all children/young people with special needs to participate in all areas of sports, as well as encouraging siblings to be involved and meet other siblings in the same situation. The club has good relations with the local voluntary sector as well as an excellent partnership with the local schools

SNAC aims to ensure that all children/young adults reached their full potential, and benefit through the medium of sport. They are looking to raise the quality of the participation experience while also encouraging members to make new friendships, to be themselves, and to just have fun.

The Cash 4 Clubs sports grant of £1,000 was awarded to the club to enable them to purchase two adapted go-karts. The club already has a go-kart track with the young members expressing an interest in this activity. However, standard go-karts were unsuitable for the members to use. The grant will now allow the children and young adults at SNAC to participate in this activity, with the benefits of helping to stimulate the development of motor skills and co-ordination.

"We at The Special Needs Activity Club in Port Talbot are delighted with the generous grant awarded to us by Cash for Clubs. We are so grateful that there are organisations like yours that are devoted to helping grassroots community facilities like ours. We will now be able to purchase specialist go-karts to enable our children and young adults with special needs to improve their physical fitness in a fun, safe and secure centre. Once again thank you from all at The Special Needs Activity Club."
