Prestatyn Cricket Club
Prestatyn Cricket Club in North Wales was formed in 1895 and currently has around 200 members. With a large catchment area, the club provides key sporting opportunities for young people living in Rhyl and the surrounding areas.
The club was the first Disability Clubmark accredited clubs in North Wales and is now keen to become a focus club for disability cricket. In addition, they are working had at increasing girls participation as they recognise this is another group that have traditionally been underrepresented within the sport.
The £500.00 awarded to Prestatyn Cricket Club will ensure they can increase the opportunities for disabled players wishing to take part in the sport. By training one of the current coaches to become a specialist disability coach, they will have the expertise needed to ensure they can take on a number of new players over the coming months.
Bernadette Horton, Committee Member, said: "We are delighted that with the £500 grant from Cash 4 Clubs we are able to proceed in bringing disability cricket to the area. The money will be used to send a coach on a disability coaching course and bring cricket participation to groups who may not have had the chance to take part before. The grant will enhance the profile of disability cricket throughout North Wales."
