Teign Hockey Club

Teign Hockey Club in Devon was formed in 2010 via a merger of Dawlish Men's Hockey Club and Teignmouth Ladies Club. It is a family orientated club, run completely by volunteers and offers grassroots hockey opportunities to all ages and abilities.

The club emphasises fun, safe enjoyment of the game and offers competitive playing opportunities. With accessibility at the fore, training sessions can cost as little as £1 and a variety of junior equipment is provided to remove the barrier to participation for those that otherwise could not afford to take part in the sport in this deprived area.

Some of the clubs important goals for the 2011/12 season are to develop the junior competitions, support additional training for coaches, run umpire and young umpire award courses and develop links with local schools.

Jo Day, committee member, said: 'The Cash 4 Clubs grant of £610 will be used to purchase quick sticks equipment to introduce hockey to children in schools in a fun and safe way and thus expand and build our thriving junior section and strengthen our links with schools in the area. This ensures a pathway that enables a lifelong commitment to sport and physical activity. Thanks Cash 4 Clubs.'
