Weymouth Youth Bowling Club
Weymouth Youth Bowling Club currently has 14 bowlers and is looking to increase its membership. Working with young people from across the community, the club has seen friendships develop and confidence levels boosted as individuals start to take part in tournaments.
The club meets each weekend; at these sessions bowlers are given one hour of training followed by three games of bowling. Keen to expand its membership and offer additional training sessions, the club applied for a grant to develop the skills of volunteer coaches.
Laura Williams, Committee Member, said: "With a strong membership of young people in the area we've reached a stage where it would be beneficial to send two of our instructors to the Level 2 Training Course, and to get a few of our other members taking their Level 1 course. With this £350 grant from Cash 4 Clubs we're able to do this and we hope the higher standard of training will improve the skill and techniques of all of our bowlers."
