St. Ives Surf Lifesaving Club

St. Ives Surf Lifesaving Club in the South West of England was established in 1996 and provides training for over 130 members. With such a rural, water from location it is imperative that all members of the club have an understanding of water safety and the potential hidden dangers of the coast.

Working with all ages of the local community the club trains and equips individuals with the skills they need to keep themselves and others safe in the water, so they are ultimately in a position to save lives. The overall aim of the club is to be as inclusive as possible, so that no matter what you ability, you are part of a team with a life skill.

St. Ives Surf Lifesaving Club acknowledges that to continue to grow it needs to increase the number of trainers and assessors volunteering on a regular basis. To encourage this, they are using the £1,000 donated via Cash 4 Clubs to train a further eight young people to attain their Level 1 Surf Coach certificate.

Kerris Jones, Treasurer, said: "The grant from Cash 4 Clubs will allow us to invest in the future and continue the teaching of life skills for young people in St.Ives, ensuring that they will hopefully not just be able to keep themselves safe, but others aswell."
