Plymouth Marjon Hockey Club

Plymouth Marjon is a very successful England Hockey 'Clubs First' accredited club offering opportunities for all whatever their age, ability, or gender. With over 300 members fielding 11 senior teams, and 15 youth and junior sides for boys and girls aged 18 to under 10s, the club is one of the largest in England.

The club offers quality coaching and competitive matches in a safe and friendly environment and strives to promote community participation in through a year round programme. The club aims to be inclusive for all; developing talented players in order that they reach their potential, whilst still providing enjoyable and social hockey for all members of all ages.

Whilst playing hockey is what the club is all about there is also a culture that fosters development through umpiring, coaching and managing teams. The club is set up to give players the best possible experience by providing quality coaching, opportunities to play competitive matches, positive player mentoring and development at whatever the level played.

Jackie Daw, committee member, said: 'With qualified keeper coaches we will be able to offer specific goalkeeper training. Our Cash 4 Clubs grant of £500 will help us finance training for three volunteer coaches and it will be great to see them put their new skills into action over the coming months.'
