Barnstaple Swimming Club
Barnstaple Swimming Club is the largest swimming club in North Devon with 355 active members. In existence for 79 the club has acted as a hub in the local area and has taught many of the residents how to swim.
The club is accredited to the National Swim 21 Programme and relies totally on volunteers, bar one part time professional coach.
The Club enters both swimming and water polo teams in Local, County and District competitions. It also encourages as many volunteers as possible to achieve the relevant ASA/UKCC coaching qualifications and to participate in CPD to ensure that the Club provides the highest quality of teaching/coaching possible.
Joan Squire, committee member, said: 'The £750 we've secured is great news. We're going to spend the money on training as our members will definitely benefit from more qualified coaches. I can't wait to see our swimmers being taught news skills which will hopefully result in improved training programmes across squads.'
