Sheringham Cricket Club
Sheringham Cricket Club is a family orientated, predominately youth based club in Norfolk. In 2011, over 60 boys and girls of all ages played in matches and attended training run by a small but dedicated band of volunteers.
The club is proud of the fantastic relationships it has built with parents and schools, and considers itself to be a key part of the local community giving youngsters the chance to engage in something interesting and active. All of the senior players live in the local area, and all the junior members attend local schools. The club hosts the local high school throughout the summer, to allow them to hold tournaments and matches.
Chris Moy, committee member, said: 'We wish to give those who want to, the chance to develop their cricket skills, and given them the opportunity to play their sport at the highest level they can, whilst not moving away from being a family orientated club. We will use the £255 Cash 4 Clubs grant to increase the number of qualified youth coaches we have, in order to cope with the ever growing numbers of youngsters that attend training each week. This increase in capacity will help Sheringham meet its 5 year goals, but more importantly, it will ensure that the boys and girls of all ages will have a chance to engage in a fantastic sport, in a fun and friendly environment.'
