Strabane Sigersons Gaelic Athletic Association
Strabane Sigersons Gaelic Athletic Association in based in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland and was formed in 1902. Now with almost 400 youth members the club is at the heart of the local community and offers a range of sporting opportunities to all age groups who want to get involved with traditional Gaelic games.
Strabane is an area of high social deprivation and the club plays a pivotal role in the local community with organised coaching sessions almost every night of the week and at weekends. Delivering courses such as circuit training, boxercise, and strength and conditioning classes in addition to games like football, hurling, camogie, handball and rounders there is generally something for everyone.
With many new initiatives being implemented by the committee, the £250.00 grant from Cash 4 Clubs will see a number of current members being offered the opportunity to undertake Foundation level training. This will not only empower those selected but ensure there are more volunteers able to coach the ever growing teams.
Aodhán Harkin, Project Coordinator, said: "Strabane Sigersons G.A.A. are delighted to receive this welcome piece of funding via Cash 4 Clubs. It will allow us to train up further coaches to Foundation Level and they in turn will deliver their expertise back into the club, the schools and the local community."
