Whitehaven Cricket Club

Whitehaven Cricket Club was formed in 1824 and claims to be the oldest club in Cumbria. Providing sporting opportunities for over 135 members, the club is run entirely by volunteers.

Working with schools and community organisations, the club promotes the sport across West Cumbria and encourages an atmosphere of inclusion.

Cash 4 Clubs awarded Whitehaven Cricket Club £500 to assist them as they embark on a project to increase the participation of girls in the sport.

Arthur Brown, Club Development Officer and Coach, said: "This grant of £500 is very much appreciated by everyone at Whitehaven Cricket Club. It will allow us to buy coaching equipment for our exciting new venture as Cumbria Cricket Board's nominated cricket club to introduce, encourage and develop girls' participation in West Cumbria."
