Chester Netball
Chester Netball has teams competing in national, regional, county and local leagues. The club encourages women of all ages into sport by placing no limits on age or fitness. With members ranging in age from 4 to 70 years old their 8 coaching staff are never short of a job!
As the largest netball organisation in North West England the club makes has over 200 members and their annual junior tournament sees over 800 players from the region competing and interacting over 2 days, further promoting netball as a sport. The club seeks to support talented players from the earliest stages, following the excel pathway, and also encourages the less able to succeed by developing them so they can achieve the netball Level One qualification.
The £1,000 Cash 4 Clubs grant will be spent on putting five of the club's existing members who are aged 16-17 through their Level One coaching qualification. Having all expressed an interest, these new coaches will then be able to assist more qualified coaches under supervision in delivering aspects of training sessions. Having more hands on deck will mean these sessions can be tailored more to individuals' needs and abilities, enhancing both participants' performance and enjoyment of the sport.
Thomasine Buckeridge, committee member, said: 'Thanks to Cash 4 Clubs we are now going to be able to send five of our members on coaching courses. The £850 will see five your volunteers take their Level One coaching qualification so they can then pas on their love for the sport to a new generation of netball players.'
