Leicester City Wooodgate Inclusive (Disability) Football Club
Leicester City Wooodgate Inclusive (Disability) Football Club is a section of Leicester City Ladies Football Club, an FA Charter Standard Community Club and a not for profit organisation run by volunteers and formed in 1966 with a total of 10 girls and ladies football teams.
The Club's disability section, formed in 2007, provides regular football training and playing opportunities for over 60 individuals with learning, physical or sensory disabilities. The emphasis and ethos of the section is to ensure members of all ability levels, have a positive experience whilst being involved in football. This involvement not only develops the football skills of individuals, but supports team work, life and communication skills, widens social networks for players by the forging of friendships and promotes a healthy lifestyle by engagement in regular physical activity.
The club is working hard to engage more volunteers to become involved to ensure this vital provision is sustainable into the future. Ensuring the quality of volunteers and coaching standards ensures a safe environment for members.
Mary Rudkin, committee member, said: 'The Cash 4 Clubs grant will be of great benefit to us as we usually have to rely on volunteers to get players to and from matches. We have used the £800 to hire coaches so our players can take part in the L & R County Disability Football League. We hope all of the players enjoy this experience and over time, are able to improve their game.'
