Regent's Park Cricket Club

Regent's Park Cricket Club welcomes all children aged 8 to 17 and is run primarily by parents and volunteers. In September 2008 the club was awarded Clubmark status and in 2011 is hoping to expand further by offering additional teams to accommodate the influx of new members.

RPCC is proud to be an inclusive, multicultural club based in Central London. Offering more than just the development of cricket skills the club provides the invaluable opportunity to integrate with children from other cultures and backgrounds, instilling values such as respect for diversity in society. It is also involved in the Chance2Shine programme whereby one of their coaches delivers 300 hours of coaching in Westminster Schools. This has resulted in many new, young, enthusiastic players joining the club.

A short term goal for RPCC is to maintain the number of children attending from deprived areas and BME groups that attended last year, whilst the successful introduction of a girl's team last season will be built upon. The club aims to achieve this through the delivery of high quality coaching by qualified ECB coaches, providing the children with the facilities and equipment needed to participate, and by offering discounted membership to all children on free school meals.

The £750 Cash 4 Clubs grant will be used to provide interim funding to subsidise a selection of places and to also purchase any new equipment.

Michael Turner, committee member, said: 'Opportunities for young people to participate in cricket in the London area are limited. Our Cash 4 Clubs grant means we have the funds to continue encouraging new children to participate in cricket, and has put us in a position to provide some level of financial support to those in need of it."
