Ramgarhia Badminton Club
Ramgarhia Badminton Club in Newham was set up over 15 years ago and caters for all ages and standards of players and participants at the club level and in local and county badminton leagues. The club has been accredited as a Premier club by Badminton England and has been awarded a Club Mark.
One of the clubs main aims is to encourage participation amongst young people. With established links with the local primary and secondary schools Ramgarhia Badminton is just launching a league competition for junior competitors which they hope will to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. It is hoped that by having a competitive structure in place for those who wish to compete will provide young players with an incentive to improve.
Sandy Kurek, Regional Officer, said: "As a club we've been looking to set up a junior league for a while and with this £600 grant we're delighted to say we can now move this project forwards. To kick start everything we're going to use the money to take on two extra badminton course for two hours a week for at least 20 weeks."
