London United Basketball Club
London United provides an opportunity for young basketball players in the area to play at an elite level. Concentrating on the development of 16 and 17 year old players the club provides a structure whereby talented individuals undergo intensive training supported by international coaches.
Many young players in London can't afford to access coaching of the standard provided by London United and the club is delighted that they can offer their programme at no cost. This ensures young people from diverse background, many of whom are financially disadvantaged, are given the opportunity to take their game forward to another level.
Whilst the club has had many successes on the court one of the requirements of England Basketball is that all clubs playing in the national league have to have an electronic scoreboard and shot clock. To carry on playing at the standard they're able to, the club needs to invest in this equipment quickly so the grant will go a long way to enabling the new kit.
Sara Robinson, Club Secretary, said: "With the £1,000 Cash 4 Clubs has given us we'll be able to buy an electronic scoreboard. This is great news for London United as it means we can continue to play in the Senior National League."
