Dagenham (Police & Community) Boxing Club

Dagenham Boxing Club is a truly inclusive amateur boxing club which is entirely self funded. Since 1996 the club has been producing champions at all levels. The club aims to provide a safe, clean environment for people to come and learn the art of amateur boxing.

Members of DBC have the opportunity to keep fit and healthy and through work with the local Police, it is also hoped that the club helps reduce crime and anti social behaviour in a rundown area of London. All members sign a code of conduct which is relevant both in and out of the gym. This enhances the clubs relations with local residents and the wider community helping to make Barking & Dagenham a better and safer place to live and work.

Dan O'Sullivan, committee member, said: 'In amateur boxing, safety is paramount. Our boxers are not permitted to spar without the correct protective equipment so this grant of £1,000 will allow us to buy the correct kit. As things stand, we do not have enough equipment to spread across the club so we're really excited we can go out and get more.'

With an increased level of equipment the club can take on more boxers from the local area to ensure DBC goes from strength to strength.
