Charlton Athletic Ability Counts Club
Charlton Athletic Ability Counts Club organises football sessions which run in school term time for disabled players from the ages of five to 15 years old. The sessions are run across London and Kent and the principle aim is to deliver training and playing opportunities for young people and adults with sensory, learning and physical disabilities.
The club has been growing over the past few years and as its finances are independent of the professional football club, they applied for a grant to help with the funding of coaching courses. By increasing the number of qualified coaches it is hoped no new player will have to be turned away from the club.
Barry Simmons, Committee Member, said: "We've been looking to train a number of our volunteers for a while now and are delighted to receive this £500 from Cash 4 Clubs. We hope this will let us put one individual through their Level 1 coaching course and see a few other people attending the FA coaching disabled footballers course. We should also be able to recruit an additional qualified coach which will further increase the standard of coaching we're able to provide our players with."
