Abohani Football Club

Abohani Football Club was formed in 2001 to work with members of the sometimes disadvantaged and disengaged ethnic communities in the Tower Hamlets area. The club actively promotes social inclusion and healthy living and over past nine years has grown into a borough wide initiative, bringing together people from all backgrounds and abilities in this London borough through sport.

The Cash 4 Clubs sports grant of £1,000 was awarded to the club to enable them to develop their community badminton project. The grant will help the club increase participation primarily within the Bangladeshi community through a series of healthy living, intergenerational focused sessions.

Kolil Miah, Club Secretary, said: "We are delighted to receive £1000 from Cash 4 Clubs to develop our community badminton project. It will give the project a huge boost and will enable to us to hire the venue and purchase equipment. Badminton is a healthy indoor sport and we are keen to promote participation within the local community."
