Broxbourne Rowing Club
Founded in 1847 Broxbourne Rowing Club is based on the river Lea, close to the Hertfordshire/Essex border. Catering for all abilities the club's membership is made up of absolute beginners, juniors and veterans sections and a number of rowers competing at a national level.
With the number of members continuing to increase, the club applied for a grant to help with training additional coaches to assist with the junior section. They feel that by investing in training current volunteers they are not only assisting with their personal development but helping to provide a strong base from which the club can continue to grow.
Amanda Jones, Committee Member, said: "With the £1,000 we've received from the grant programme we're going to train up more coaches to support our junior section. Whilst we've grown significantly in numbers of the past few years we haven't been able to see as many members progress to gain their coaching qualifications. With the money we'll be able to help them through their training."
