Sportsmatch
Sportsmatch are funded by Sport England and are aimed at smaller community based sports grants. They match funding that has already been secured by the application so that the sports club ends up with double the money that they raised through other means of fundraising.
They do look more favourably on applications that help their priority groups which include women and girls, black and ethnic minority groups and disability groups. So if you are running a small sports club which caters for one of these groups then this might be the perfect place to look for a sports grant.
There are several things they will not fund though that you should be aware of before you decide if this is the right sports funding scheme for you. They don't fund individuals, therefore if you are an aspiring athlete looking for sponsorship then look elsewhere. Your project must be UK based.
The project that you are seeking funding for must not have already started because funding cannot be added retrospectively. They will match funds coming from private donors but will only consider it eligible if coming from between one and three private donors.
Finally there are two major project types that they will not consider. These are for new football kit or new football goalposts. Both of these are well covered by the Football Foundation so if that is what you are after then they would be your first port of call.
If your project has not been eliminated by these criteria and you can demonstrate that you can raise some funding yourself then this might be the perfect scheme for you.
